Monterey

Harbor Models is proud to offer its version of the "Monterey Clipper," a double-ended fishing boat. These fascinating two-man vessesl were used by fishermen to catch sardines and larger fish for the packers in the hey-days of cannery row in Monterey, California. These boats were originally propelled by an ancient triangular sail design and were used by Mediterranean fishermen for hundreds of years. At the beginning of the 20th century, italian immigrants brought this design was perfect for the inder powered boats as the "pointy" stern streamlined the vessel and allowed to go faster. Also, the waves popping the stern would not easily kick the boat off course.

Deschutes Push Tug

This unique 91' tunnel hull tug is built by J.M. Martinac, and two were recently acquired by the Shaver Tug Company. The extremely broad beam and tunnel hull make this tug very stable. This allows for easy barge maneuvering and the tall pilot house tower provides a clear view over the mountainous wood chip-loaded barges commonly seen on the Columbia River. Powered by twin diesels developing 3600 H.P. at 1800 rpm, the tug can attain a 105,000 lb. bollard pull.
